I woke up to Facebook all a flutter with the news. Even though my friend (who works at a competitor) gave me the spoiler on this news yesterday, it just didn't feel real. Like in any layoffs, there were people who were let go who probably needed to leave, and then there are the others, the ones who construct the fabric of the agency. The ones you love to work with, the ones who make things better.
In this industry, you spend a lot of time, blood, sweat and tears at work. Clients drive you all crazy. The hours are unpredictable and long. The pressure to out do the other guys is tremendous. Razorfish was always a haven for me - smart, professional people who loved what they do more than anything and always brought 120% to the game. The ones who didn't follow that mantra, didn't last long.
So, I am a bit sad for those gone and those left to carry on. Even though I am half way around the world and working at another agency, I will still a fish in that pond.
Love you guys,
Holly
