Today was quite a busy day. I had some errands to run and some work to do in the morning. Then I bought some food for our cookout at the farm and then visited with my Aunt Joyce. She always has the best stories about my dad's adventures when they were kids.
The best part of the day was going to my dad's farm for our cookout. Anne, Dad, NG, Heather and I had a blast. My dad has a great firepit. We also had quite a scare when Anne stood up from the picnic table and Heather, NG and I on the other side went tumbling over backward. Luckily, NG is quick on the draw, and saved his beer and steak.
The most important part of my trip to the farm was to name two cows for Tristan and Gabby. Tristan wanted to name the bull Bullseye and Gabby wanted to name a new cow Caramel. What great names those turned out to be.
My Dad had been calling Bullseye by the name of Leroy, but decided that Bullseye was a great name, especially when you see his markings. It looks like there is a target around his eye. Bullseye is definitely the king of the cows. He is very large and goes where he pleases. In some of the photos online, you will see Bullseye’s son. He looks just like Bullseye, but tiny. Bullseye eats treats out of my Dad’s hand, so I guess he is a gentle bully.
Caramel is a new baby cow, just a few months old. Her name is very fitting because her coat is swirled with brown and red. Just like caramel and chocolate. Yum! Caramel is a little shier than Bullseye – maybe because she is smaller. But she is very sweet and gentle.
Well, after the adventure with the cookout and cows, I drove halfway to Austin - to the town of Buffalo, where I am staying the night. So, this cowgirl is tired and is going to get some shut eye.
