Tasmania: Day Three (Monday)

We had a great breakfast at the B&B and then hopped in the car for the hour drive to Freycinet National Park. It was a little misty/rainy, but we didn't let that stop us. We only had about a half day at the park, so we did a few short hikes, followed by lunch at the lodge.

The Sleepy Bay (Southern End) walk is a short 30 minute hike. The trail starts out with a stunning view of Sleepy Bay. Then there is a pretty steep descent to a small cove. It was really cool here. We befriend a bird and sat on a huge rock and watched the waves come in.

We also did the Cape Tourville hike which is pretty short and paved the whole way, but it is so incredible - probably the best hike I have ever done. You walk around the lighthouse and there is this fabulous panoramic view of the Wineglass Bay down to the Friendly Beaches.

Then we drove about 2.5 hours to the town of New Norfolk. The drive was mainly country fields and forests. It was very beautiful. New Norfolk is an awesome town with a very New England feel to it. We checked into the B&B (Explorer's Lodge) and then went to Bush Inn Pub for dinner. We had a fabulous meat pie and some beverages sitting out on the expansive deck. The town is nestled in the valley amongst these tree-filled hills at the banks of the Derwent River.

After a short walk about town and a stop at the local market, we went back to the B&B and watched Good Will Hunting and retired early.
