Dave always makes a big deal about visualizing a home remodeling project. So I put his theory to the test last night in the upper kitchen. With a roll of blue painter’s tape, I started marking off cabinets and appliances and eventually have a fairly good starting place.
We went to Home Depot on Sunday to plan the kitchen. I was so excited and thought I would walk out of there with a rendering of my new kitchen. So wrong. Apparently this process takes around 20 hours of meeting at Home Depot to complete. I think I might go insane from the florescent lighting before I finish.
So, I am trying to figure things out as much as I can before I go in there. I am also going to try Floorcraft. They are local, have the appliances we want, and just nicer options (read: expensive). If I can manage to the kitchen budget and get most of it done there, I think that will be best.
So while I was visualizing last night, Dave had the horrible job of pulling up all the doggie pee stained carpet and padding (which disintegrated to a powder acting like kitty litter and protecting the hardwood floors below).
Todd spent the day removing the cabinets from the beige house kitchen for the feng shu re-do. The huge refrigerator was literally the first thing you ran into in the kitchen and blocked the back wall cabinets. It will really open up that kitchen and make it look larger. That house is pretty done and just needs some carpet in the linoleum covered bedroom and a new bath vanity.
Also Jose, the landscaper, came and walked through the final plan with Dave and Todd. We are hoping to get started this week. We still didn’t close yesterday, so any repairs have to be on the DL. Banks. Anyway.
And the inspection on the loft went well. Dave said our realtor, Oliver, told him 12 people came - the new buyers and some of their friends -- almost like it was a party. That is cool - I am glad they are excited and hope they will love the loft as much as we do.
